A CASA volunteer advocate is a community volunteer who is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect.
Advocates come from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Volunteer advocates are dedicated to being a consistent presence for a child as their case progresses through the foster care system. While other professionals may change frequently in the child's life, CASA advocates offer continuity and stability throughout their time in foster care.
A volunteer's primary responsibility is to gather information, provide written reports, and attend court hearings on behalf of the child.
Schedule an interview with a CASA representative and tell us why you are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer.
Prepare yourself to be a CASA volunteer by completing 30 hours of pre-service training.
Extensive background checks are conducted to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both volunteers and the children we serve.
After graduating you are ready to be sworn in by the Judge, pick a case and begin to Change a Child's Story. ®
